The Sophie Lancaster Murder

I have mentioned the Sophie Lancaster Foundation in previous blog post however I wanted to inform you about what happened to Sophie and her boyfriend, and about the foundation in a video because I feel that actually talking about it rather than typing about it is a lot stronger.

Being a gay male I have be the subject of a lot of prejudice and hatred. I'm quite lucky however that I'm not treated as badly as some people (thank god) but I was treated very badly for how I dressed in seventh and eighth grade, and because I had "came out of the closet" in eighth grade I was the subject of much prejudice in my school during eighth grade.

Although seventh grade was a pretty bad school year for me eighth grade was by far the worst school year of my life (apart from all of elementary school) because I dressed in a way that was not considered the norm among my peers. I was going through my scene kid stage at the time and I would go to school with black emo/scene kid hair which I often had spiked up and volumized, and I would wear tight fitting jeans and shirts, along with converse. To make matters worse I was being bullied by a guy, I had previously had a crush on, and his friends. To make a long story short eighth grade was the one year in middle school I never ever want to go back and relive. I was bullied quite a bit however in the end it made me stronger. Due to how much I was bullied in elementary school, seventh grade, and eighth grade I know how hard it is for someone who refuses to fit in with the crowd and that is one reason I support the Sophie Lancaster Foundation. Another reason I support the Sophie Lancaster Foundation is because I feel like I can relate to Sophie's story even more than Matthew Shepard's story.

You can donate to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation by buying a S.O.P.H.I.E wristband from Illamasqua, by purchasing a S.O.P.H.I.E eyeliner from Illamasqua, or by simply just donating to the foundation on the Illamasqua website. The link to the wristbands and eyeliners is http://www.illamasqua.com/shop/catalogue/sophie/. Stamp out prejudice, hatred, and intolerance everywhere!

My Favorite MAC Collection

Out of all the collections MAC has released since I had gotten into MAC Style Black was by far my all time favorite. It was focused around goth and punk fashion and all the products were black or dark colored, hence the reason for the name of the collection.

The Reason Style Black was my favorite collection was due to the what the collection's focus was on. Like I had recently said Style Black's main focus was around the 80's goth and punk subcultures, and although I do not label myself or try to fit into a certain category I have taken bits and pieces from both subcultures and incorporated them into my own personal style. Another reason I liked Style Black so much was because many of the products were ones that could easily be used by both sexes. Women and men who were either feminine, masculine, or even androgynous could use a good amount of the products without sacrificing their femininity/masculinity/androgyny.

The products in the Style Black collection were all black or dark colored like i said before. Lipsticks, nail lacquers, mineralized eyeshadows, and even the skincare products were all black/dark colored. Among the many products was Black Knight Lipstick, which was a black creamsheen formula; Blue Flame Mineralized eyeshadow, which was blue with a black undertone; Blackware Glimmerglass, which was a black lipgloss with glitter in it; the grease paintstick, which is similar to a shadestick; and the Penultimate liquid eyeliner, which is permanent at all MAC stores. Along with the makeup the skincare products were awesome as well. I had gotten one product from the collection, although I had wanted to get more, which was the Volcanic Ash Exfoliator. It had came out years earlier with a previous collection, which I believe was Future Earth, and I had heard so much hype about it when the info about the Style Black collection was released to the public.

The Volcanic Ash Exfoliator is said to be made with Volcanic Ash and sugar, and it is very good for your skin. I have sensitive, acne pron skin so when I had used it on my face it made me break out however when I used it to exfoliate my body it worked wonders and my skin felt wicked smooth. I hope MAC brings back the Volcanic Ash Exfoliator again.

The Promo Images for the collection were absolutely stunning. A woman putting on the Grease Paintstick, a woman putting on Black Knight Lipstick, and a guy with beautiful eye makeup holding a rose were among some of the images used for the collection. They definitely captured the 80's theme of the collection with a modern twist to it. Along with the 80's theme with the modern vibe to it, some of the images also had a bit of sex appeal to them without looking   trashy; I felt that the little bit of sex appeal of the images was a good idea because it made the images look all the more amazing and gave the collection a more luscious vibe.

Although the collection didn't have limited edition packaging it was still an amazing collection and in my opinion was the best collection MAC has release since I got into MAC. Maybe someday down the road MAC will release another collection that is somehow similar to this one or brings back some of the products.

Sophie Lancaster

The anniversary of the Sophie Lancaster murder is approaching and on the 11th of August I plan on making a video about the assault on Sophie and her boyfriend Robert. The Sophie Lancaster murder was a hate crime, much like the Matthew Shepard murder, and was just a tragic and if not even more terrifying than Shepard's murder. To think someone can be physically attacked and murdered just because they look the way they do is horrific, and Sophie's death saddens and angers me whenever I read or speak about it. I hope that those who did what they did to Sophie and Robert will never see freedom again.

Robert is actually one of my favorite artists and his work is amazing. His exhibition to Sophie called "Crimson Iris: The Art of Sophie" included one of my favorite paintings done by him. it's called 'In which a desperate act causes chaos to desend,' and I have an image of the painting below.

PDA (Public Display of Affection)

As you can probably tell I'm ok with certain forms of PDA depending on the location and in some cases the time and what you are doing. In school I disagree strongly with students making out or kissing in the halls, etc. School is not the place to be doing such things since your main reason for being in school is to learn. In work places if you're caught kissing or even showing any forms of PDA you can get fired. Although I am gay, and I am slightly less bothered by a gay couple making out in school, I don't feel that two guys making out in public is nice or cute, I think it's inappropriate as is a straight couple making out. Love is love however no matter if you're gay, straight, bisexual, or pansexual there is a time and place to show that love and affection.

Style, Makeup, and Men in the Kitchen: Herb Infused Scrambled Eggs

This is quite easy to make. don't put too much garlic powder or paprika because they are very strong spices and you aren't trying to ward off vampires lol. Obviously you don't have to do everything the way I do it so you can add or leave out certain things, and you don't need to make the toast, I just thought it'd be a nice touch and because i was in the mood to have some.

Matthew Shepard

There has been a song about the Matthew Shepard murder and it's called "Scarecrow" by Melissa Etheridge, check it out it's a very good song and very moving.

knowing what happened to Matthew Shepard makes me so angry and when ever I read about his murder or talk about it I get goose bumps, as a matter of fact I have goose bumps right now.

This is a story that every LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Questioning) person should know and it should never be forgotten or silenced in my opinion.

The events leading up to Matthew Shepard's tragic murder begin the night he was assaulted on October 6 of the year 1998. Matthew Shepard had met two men at the Fireside Bar in Laramie, Wyoming. The two men were Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson. They both convinced Matthew that they were both gay and later that evening they convinced Matthew to let them give him a lift. They drove him to a remote area near Sherman Hills subdivision. As soon as they stopped the car McKinney told Matthew, "we're not gay, and you just got jacked," and the struck him in the head with a pistol. They then dragged Matthew out of the vehicle and tied him to a split rail fence and tortured him. As they pistol-whipped him he begged for his life. After they beat Matthew unconscious they left him there tied to the fence. The next day a biker found Matthew and recalls finding him cover in blood, apart from two trails running down his face where his tears had washed the blood away. Apparently a doe was laying by Matthew when the biker had stopped, however the doe got up and ran of as soon as the biker walked up to Matthew. Matthew was admitted to the Hospital and put on life support. He never gain consciousness and after five days was taken off life support and died.

There has been a video recreating the assault on Matthew Shepard and the after math of his death. I have searched the web for the clip and can not find it but the name of the movie the clip is in is "The Matthew Shepard Story" and if you decide to get the video or something like that be warned that the assault scene is quite bloody and horrifying. If you can't handle bloody videos or videos of the sort then don't watch it.

My Cat Spunky

When we had found Spunky he was just a tiny kitten. We had found him when we were searching for our dog Molly, who had ran away from home (we found her). He was in some tall grass over by a tree and his arm was caught between a stiff forked plant, we think though that he had been injured even before that. We had taken him out of the grass but we left him next to the tree (due to my mom saying he wouldn't end up mking it), until the next day when we had found that he was still alive. My mom was very surprised and ended up taking him into the house and cleaned him up. We called the vet and when we spoke to the vet we found out that his arm would need to be amputated because it was pretty much dead. He underwent surgery without amnesia and the vet said he had a 50% chance of surviving the surgery, Well apparently he survived :]] and is getting around perfectly. He's very attacted to my mom.

Story About Two Gay Teens

The title of the story is called Adrian and Jared. Very original title isn't it? lol

Most Pedophiles are Gay Males?

If you're one of those people who believe that most pedophiles are gay then you need to do your research. Pedophilia has to do with power and control, and sexual attraction most of the time has nothing to do with it so saying that gender matters to a pedophile is incorrect, therefore a pedophile isn't necessarily gay if he has raped a little boy.

The Zora are aquatic people and have a fish-like appearance. They reside in Zora's Domain which is filled with water.

Products Used:

  • MAC Prep+Prime Skin Base Visage
  • Halloween cream makeup wheel (I used the white one)
  • Fetish Eyeshadow: Secret (it's a white with a frost/shimmery finish)
  • L.A. Colors 5 Color Metallic Eyeshadow: Tranquil (I used the teal color and it has a frost finish)
  • MAC Pigment: Partylicious (this was a limited edition pigment; if you couldn't get your hands on this pigment then the duo-chrome teal color from the Loreal Hip showy Duo will do)
  • Rimmel London White eye Kohl
  • MAC Zoom Lash: Zoomblack
  • MAC Pigment: Shimmer-time (it's a light rose pink and it has a frost finish)
  • MAC Lip Conditioner Stick SPF 15

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask: Kokiri Inspired Makeup Tutorial

This is just an inspired look which means I took bits and pieces of the Kokiri race to create this look.

The Kokiri are a race consisting of people who never age and stay children forever which is why this isn't a very dramatic look. The green on the waterline is inspired by where the Kokiri live which is in the Kokiri Forest.

Products Used:

  • Blue and Yellow Makeup Crayons mixed together to create a green
  • Loreal Untamed Quad: Untamed Huntress (I used the matte brown only; use whatever brown eyeshadow you have)
  • Klean Color Rainbow Splendor Pallet (I used the light golden color from it so any light gold will do)
  • Light colored face powder (I used covergirl face powder in natural ivory)
  • Clear Mascara (to keep my brows in place)
  • Physicians Formula Les Bontanigues Bontanical Bronzer: Sunny Bunch
  • Revlon Midnight Swirl Lipgloss: Taupeless
  • Revlon Lash Fantasy: Blackened-Brown

How To: Bruise

If you're going to be something for Halloween that requires a bruise, like a pirate or a zombie, or you're doing something for stage or anything like that then this will be very helpful.

Note: For this you will want to use eyeshadows that have a matte or satin finish because they tend to make it look more realistic (real bruises don't have a metallic or shimmery look to them)

Products Used:

  • MAC Carbon Eyeshadow (Carbon is just a matte black so any matte black will do)
  • Loreal Eyeshadow quad: Untamed Huntress (I used the matte brown from it so use any matte brown you have)
  • Physicians Formula Revined Face Powder: Napa Nude (this best matches my skin tone; use whatever face powder fits your skin tone)
  • Red and Yellow Halloween Makeup Crayons (can be bought at costume shops or anywhere during Halloween)
